Toddler Care

(18 months - 2 1/2 years)

Our Toddler program is specifically designed for parents seeking tender care and early learning for toddlers ages 18 months – 2 ½ years of age.

The Toddler program provides your child with a warm, secure, positive and challenging environment. It is a comfortable place for children to begin to explore the world. Our Toddler program provides an environment which is carefully prepared to meet the unique needs of children ages 18 months – 2 ½ years of age. With a ratio of 1 teacher for every 5 students, children are encouraged to naturally explore, ask and answer questions, solve problems and interact with other children and adults as they pursue their choices and plans.

Like all programs at Barrie Montessori & Elementary Private School, our Toddler curriculum is based on the principle that children learn best through direct, hands-on experience. During this active learning process, toddlers are encouraged to discover the world around them by exploring and playing. Learning and development are encouraged by qualified teachers and caregivers, who are close at hand to support the children as they play.

The space and materials in our Toddler program are arranged to promote active learning within a safe, comfortable and secure environment. Each classroom is divided into areas organized around specific kinds of play and care: namely, sensory development, self-help skills, physical and motor skills, social and emotional growth and spaces for diapering, meals and naps.
