The Toddler program provides your child with a warm, secure, positive and challenging environment. It is a comfortable place for children to begin to explore the world. Our program is specifically designed for parents seeking tender care and early learning for toddlers' ages 18 months – 36 months.

Like all programs at Barrie Montessori & Elementary Private School, our Toddler curriculum is based on the principle that children learn best through direct, hands-on experience. During this active learning process, toddlers are encouraged to discover the world around them by exploring and playing. Learning and development are encouraged by qualified teachers and care givers, who are close at hand to support the children as they play.

The space and materials in our Toddler program are arranged to promote active learning within a safe, comfortable and secure environment. Each classroom is divided into areas organized around specific kinds of play and care: namely, sensory development, self-help skills, physical and motor skills, social and emotional growth and spaces for diapering, meals and naps.

Our large, natural grass, fenced playground area allows for safe outdoor play and activities. The development of coordination, balance and strength are important components of our Toddler program. Children are invited to explore and delight while developing control of their bodies—balls, hula-hoops and climbing equipment further encourage the refinement of gross motor skills.

Our Toddler program provides an environment which is carefully prepared to meet the unique needs of children ages 18 months – 36 months. With a ratio of 1 teacher for every 5 students, children are encouraged to naturally explore, ask and answer questions, solve problems and interact with other children and adults as they pursue their choices and plans.

The location of our new Toddler program is 290 Cundles Rd. East, Barrie
